Maja Gathering Call to Action

Process Unite hosted a successful Maja Gathering at Murray Falls, Upper Murray, on Girramay Country June 13 to 15.  More than 80 Senior Elders and RNTBC directors and their families gathered together over the weekend.

They were there to follow up on the outcomes of the Senior Elders Forum at Blencoe Falls last September (2024) and the RNTBC Forum in Cardwell in April.

Important business was discussed, legal advice given by Native Title Lawyer Thomas Cameron of Cameron Law, and commitments made to ensure that all Traditional Owners and families were updated about the Process Unite journey towards self-determination.

The following Call to Action was agreed upon at the gathering.

MAJA CALL TO ACTION

"As individual Traditional Owner groups and common law holders, who are eternally connected in Spirit and Lore and who are gathered here on Girramay Country, we will work together, share the information we have, and support our PBCs to come on board with Process Unite.

When we return home, we will speak to our mob about what the critical priorities and gaps are for our people and our Country.

We will bring our PBC resolutions, identified priorities and identified gaps to Mungalla on Nywaigi Country on 28 November, 2025."

Two resolutions were also passed at the Maja Gathering.

“We have gathered at the Maja to come together to move forward in the restorative journey of our Peoples and Country.

“We reaffirm the Senior Elders Statement of Blencoe Falls as Elders and as families, following in the straight line, Lore of our Old People, to create the best future for our children’s children.”

RESOLUTION TWO:

“We, the representatives of our Traditional Owner groups and common law holders, support the reaffirmation of the 2024 Senior Elders Forum Statement from Blencoe Falls. We will continue to move forward as a collective through Process Unite.”
