Native Title Compensation

In 2016 a landmark Australian High Court Ruling saw $2.5-million in native title compensation awarded to the Ngaliwurru and Nungali peoples in the Timber Creek case. Process Unite has been actively engaging with the Queensland government to better understand their position and approach to progressing native title compensation.

Progress towards compensation

Process Unite is an opportunity to progress towards compensation in a collaborative way. This approach acknowledges that we are stronger together and that we can benefit as one.

Process Unite proposes that a negotiating committee made up of four representatives from each Traditional Owner group could progress negotiations with the State. In this way our limited resources could be pooled to make sure that together we negotiate strong native title compensation outcomes which ensure that our children’s children gain equal benefit.
