Cultural Authorisation and Maja Agreement - November 2025

ree

Process Unite will formalise our bid for a comprehensive settlement on behalf of all participating Traditional Owner groups on November 28 to 30 this year.

The ceremony and celebrations will be held at Mungalla Station on Nywaigi Country.

All Traditional Owners within the Girringun community are invited to attend this historic event as we walk towards self-determination.

The Authorisation ceremony will also identify a formal negotiation team, with members as elected by their Traditional Owner groups. They will be assisted by a support team including researchers, economists and governance advisors as required.

This will ensure that priorities and programs are identified. This team will be placed with on-ground knowledge to address Close the Gap targets.

The shared vision is for Traditional Owners to be the architects of their own future and create a self-determined legacy for their children’s children, that is no longer dependent upon government funding and annual hand-outs.

Our Elders believe this is the only way to achieve genuine social equity and Close the Gap outcomes.
