Path to Treaty

The Path to Treaty is landmark reform enacted by the Queensland government in 2019 that is a shared journey between the state government, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and non-indigenous people. In 2022 Queensland’s Path to Treaty Commitment was signed.

We are actively engaging with stakeholders

Since 2019, Process Unite has been actively engaging with and lobbying government to ensure the best possible outcomes for First Nations people. Process Unite welcomes the passing of the Path to Treaty Act 2023, which provides the legislative basis for a: 

  • First Nations Treaty Institute, independent of government to build and support First Nations people to prepare for and enter treaty negotiations.  

  • Three-year Truth Telling and Healing Inquiry to inquire and document ongoing individual, familial, cultural and societal effects of colonisation, support Local Truth Telling.
