Voice to Parliament
In 2017 the Uluru Statement from the Heart called for a First Nations Voice enshrined in the Australian Constitution. This would give Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people an opportunity to provide a voice to Federal parliament and Executive Government about existing or proposed laws, polices and decisions that impact First Nation’s people.

Have your say and support the voice of Traditional Owners
For the Voice to Parliament to become enshrined the Australian Constitution needs to be amended, which can only be done through a referendum. The Federal Parliament is yet to set a date for the referendum, which will decide if a Voice to Parliament will be enshrined in the Australian Constitution.
If the referendum is successful, then the voice of Traditional Owners from the Girringun region is more likely to be heard.
Girringun Aboriginal Corporation has always advocated on behalf of its membership to influence and improve laws, policies and decisions which affect them.

However, Process Unite is an opportunity to establish strong cultural authority and governance to guide the nomination and selection process for our own endorsed representatives to sit on the Voice.
Process Unite we can agree on how our representative will report back to our communities, and how we can guide and support them to advocate for our priority issues.
